8ELA

-Yesterday we started reading chapter two together and your ELA assignment for the day was to finish reading chapter two.
-Today's assignment has two parts.  Firstly, update your Character Relationship Web (you should have Johannes and the man).  You don't have to complete the arrows/examples-cite text yet, but we've learned that these two men have played an important role David's life.  The second part of today's assignment is a single pink question.  Some reminders about writing pink questions/paragraph answers:  they need a proper title bar, you should only have one indent (or none-block style) and it should be left justified, you should use TAG and you must proofread.  You must proofread.  You must proofread.  I encourage you to get feedback from a classmate or someone at home once you've completed a first draft.  Choose one of the following questions.
Chapter 1/2 Summary Questions
1.  Identify David's strengths and discuss how they will help him on his journey.
2.  Identify David's weaknesses and discuss how they will harm him on his journey.
3.  Discuss the symbolism of soap and it's impact on David.
4.  Discuss the impact of his hiding place and the little Italian town of chapter two.
-By now you have learned how to write an effective five sentence paragraph.  We are now moving onto an eight sentence paragraph; review my handout below.  Simply put, sentence 2 turns into 2 and 3, sentence 3 turns into 4 and 5, and sentence 4 turns into sentences 6 and 7.  These paragraphs today are bigger and more detailed than before.  Today's pink question answers should be eight sentences.
